Problems with bra size and fitting? Everything you need to know about selecting the correct bra!

After completing the recent article on ‘Meet Doreen’, its led me to think more about our bras and how in fact they are very important to us more fuller figured women and how we easily take them for granted for all the support they offer our womanly figures, please forgive the pun!
Incidently if you have not read the article about Doreen click here on Big bra to see it.
Wearing a bra is very much part of our everyday lives like eating and sleeping, so its important we get it right!

So lets talk issues … we have all come across them, so lets try and find some resolutions.

First things first, I think the biggest mistake I make when buying a bra and I am sure many would agree, is purchasing one with cups that are too small and then thinking if I get it in a larger back size, that will even it out. Well sorry I don’t think so, we have all done it at some point and its understandable as there will be many bra styles that we like but that just don’t come in larger cups. However this is not good for us. There are now a number of online lingerie sites that do provide good size bras for the more fuller figured woman without having to sacrifice the cup size. I have indicated quite a few sources of comfortable and large size bras on my website, take a minute and check them out by clicking on womens clothing  and look under the feminine lingerie section.

So don’t opt for second best get something that is right for you and fits to!

Everything you need to know about selecting the correct bra size! ..... From sizes to fitting.

Next … please don’t think you always need to wear an under wired bra, Doreen is a clear example that this is not the case!

It is all about how it makes you feel and for different occasions there are different bras. Soft cup bras are comfortable, whereas under wire bras provide shaping to your breasts. Its your choice, but remember to think what will flatter your body shape and look appropriate under your clothes.
A properly fitted bra should make your breasts sit mid way between your waist and collarbone. Have a check, put a belt around your waist and hold a ruler across your collarbones, then look in a mirror, your breasts should be positioned mid way between the two.
If this is not the case its probably about time you looked at getting a better fitting bra!

Band size problems?

The band of your bra should always be against your rib cage, not resting on the under breast tissue. If this is the case your band size is too big, for example if you’re a size 40 and wearing a size 42. This is a clear example where your bra straps are bearing the brunt of the weight of your breasts, causing shoulder pain and soreness under the breasts. So you will end up with an uncomfortable bra, which will also not provide good support or shape to your breasts.

Best thing to do, is go and get a smaller band size, if necessary you can always go up a cup size instead!

Does your under wire poke you? This is another case of having the wrong band size, under wires are placed in bras according to accurate measurements. Its therefore very important to get measured for your band size and only buy bras to this size, do'nt think oooh I will just buy this stylish bra if it isn’t available in your correct band size!

Well I hope this has cleared up some problems or just that you can relate to some of my mishaps!
