Simple tips on how to lose weight for an ideal weight and better lifestyle.

Firstly, I do recognise that we are all different and what works for one person may not work, or suit another person. We make our own choices on how to lose weight to reach that ideal weight and to make ourselves look good and feel better. Our lifestyle does not necessarily have to change, it depends on the individual needs and circumstances. The simple tips on how to lose weight that I am sharing with you here are to me what women seeking an ideal weight should be doing anyway as part of their normal lifestyle. If you then decide that more intense weight loss diets may the best way to lose weight for you then you should look into what is available ensuring you have first checked with your doctor.

The latest Fad diet entices us with the promise of how to lose weight quickly, boost body image and reduce body weight. But quick weight loss can lead to unhealthy eating and only short term success. Focus instead should be on eating healthy and regularly to attain an ideal weight with regular ( not intensive ) exercise as part of a lifestyle commitment. As for any changes we make in life wanting to lose some, or a lot, of weight and sustain the loss requires motivation and the ability to change lifestyles.

So, my first tip on how to lose weight for an ideal weight and better lifestyle is to simply use both diet and exercise together as part of your plan. Diet to lose weight and exercise to maintain weight losses and improve health. To me this is a fundamentally important baseline - diet with exercise. A healthy diet (whichever you choose) without some associated exercise will simply not sustain any weight losses.

Second tip, on how to lose weight for an ideal weight and better lifestyle is simply to learn what to eat. Make eating healthy a lifestyle habit not something dependent upon your will power or moods. Do not turn to eating to relieve stress or boredom focus instead on exercise. Eat healthy nutritious foods, increase protein intake as protein helps increase your metabolism - which burns calories. Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains as you can eat as much as you want without gaining weight. Eat more fiber as it makes you feel fuller sooner and it moves fat through the digestive system faster. Avoid fried foods. Drink water throughout the day. Take control of what you eat and drink, good cooking and healthy eating begins with learning about nutrition and how to prepare healthy recipes.

My third tip is simply, how to eat. Following on from my first two tips for how to lose weight for an ideal weight and better lifestyle this tip is simply - Don't lose control ! Do not skip meals, eat regular healthy meals and snacks - you might eat more often but not necessarily more. Eating three small meals daily is better than eating two or three huge meals daily. Only eat when you are hungry not when you "think" you should be eating. Eat a variety of healthy foods and do not just eat what is convenient. Plan your meals in advance as not knowing what you are going to eat will lead to unhealthy fast food convenience. Eat slowly as this will give your body time to tell you you're full before you eat more than you need. If you know you will be around processed snack foods, at a party or an event for example, make sure you eat to your plan before you go. Avoid eating processed / convenience snack foods.

Tip four, is to exercise. This does not mean excessive over-exertion to the point of almost collapse !  This does the body more harm than good. But if we are considering how to lose weight for an ideal weight and better lifestyle then regular exercise must be a part of your plan. I would suggest the minimum level of exercise should be an increased level of walking. I'm not necessarily suggesting you walk every where as this is clearly not always possible but to be beneficial you should plan to walk more. For example, a 30 minute walk before the last meal of the day, then perhaps increase this to 1 hour after a few weeks. Apart from the obvious health benefits exercise increases your metabolism and burns off excess fat, even after you stop exercising. The choice is yours on how and where you exercise whether at the gym, aerobic classes, sports or privately at home, but before any exercise first check with your doctor. For exercise to be effective it should be done regularly and at the best time for maximum effect. The best time to exercise is in the evening as our metabolism slows down around 8 hours after we awake, so about 30 minutes of exercise before your last main meal of the day will increase you metabolism for two to three hours increasing your calorie / fat burn off rate.

My Tip Five, is Manage your new lifestyle. Now you know how to lose weight and have chosen a plan to get yourself to your ideal weight you need to ensure that you manage the key elements of your better lifestyle. Firstly, make time for yourself, be positive, the more you feel good about yourself the easier and faster it will be to adapt to the new lifestyle. Take it easy, do not try to change too much all at once as both your mind and your body will need time to adjust. Plan the time for your meals, snacks and exercises. Plan your meals ahead, always prepare a shopping list and shop regularly at the grocers. Do not be tempted by the quick option of a fast food snack. Exercise regularly, at the same time of day, to a pre-planned routine. Try to see the exercise routine as a key beneficial part of your new lifestyle and not a chore that has to be done. It will not be long then before you will look and feel healthy and fit.
